Four ways Malaysia helps pay for a CRM, graded in one place

Most guides cover one scheme. The Malaysia Grant Grader checks all four against your business: the MSME Digital Grant for the software, the HRD Corp levy for the training, the Accelerated Capital Allowance for faster tax relief before 31 December 2026, and the NAICI deduction for AI training. You get a score out of 100, a ringgit estimate of your net cost, and a list of exactly what to check.

More information

›What is the MSME Digital Grant MADANI?

A matching grant for Malaysian micro, small and medium businesses adopting digital tools such as CRM, POS and accounting software. It is commonly 50% of the eligible cost, capped at RM5,000 per business, applied for through BSN, and payable only on solutions from MDEC-approved Digitalisation Partners.

›Who is eligible for the MSME Digital Grant?

Published guidance for 2026 asks for SSM registration, at least 60% Malaysian ownership, at least 6 months of operations, SME status under SME Corp's definition, and no previous claim of the same grant. Check the current round with BSN, because terms change between rounds.

›What counts as an SME in Malaysia?

Under SME Corp's definition, a services business is an SME with sales up to RM20 million or up to 75 full-time employees. A manufacturer is an SME with sales up to RM50 million or up to 200 full-time employees. Micro businesses have sales under RM300,000 or fewer than 5 employees.

›Can the HRD Corp levy pay for CRM training?

Yes, if the training is an HRD Corp approved programme from a registered provider and your company is an active levy contributor. Registration is mandatory at 10 or more Malaysian employees (1% of wages) and optional at 5 to 9 (0.5%). Businesses with fewer than 5 employees have no levy.

›What is the Accelerated Capital Allowance on ICT?

A Budget 2026 measure that lets businesses write off qualifying ICT equipment and software within two years: a 20% initial allowance plus a 40% annual allowance. It covers expenditure incurred between 11 October 2025 and 31 December 2026.

›Can I claim the grant, the levy and a tax deduction on the same cost?

Generally not on the same ringgit. If your levy reimburses a training fee you haven't borne that cost, so you usually can't deduct it too, and a grant-funded portion generally can't attract another subsidy. The usual pattern is levy for training, grant for part of the software, and tax relief on what you pay yourself. Confirm it with your tax agent.

Rules as published on 28 September 2026. A summary of public schemes, not tax, legal or financial advice. Confirm your position with HRD Corp, BSN and a licensed tax agent.
